Questions for The Queen is an advise column by Davida The Clipper Cut Queen, for people who want advise on men's grooming and haircutting techniques. Questions for The Queen is published in various magazines, blogs and websites.
Q. Hello, do you have any tips when cutting a 'frohawk' or brohawk? I want to do something a little different and I normally cut my hair. I've been cutting my own hair since college, but I wanted to know if you had any tips for cutting a hawk! Any advise will be useful. Thanks! Charles
A. The key to a good hawk be it Mo, Fro or Bro is to get a good blend. The hawk that goes from hair in the middle to no hair on the sides is a thing of the past. The best way to achieve this look is to blend down. Starting at the top where the hair is fullest and graduating down to the closest point.
Q. Excuse Ms. I gotta question which clipper should I get if I want a 1 and a half or a 2 haircut, or a dark ceaser? And what guards to get also? Holla back at me.
A. Well, there are a few directions you can go with this request but I'll make it easy for you. Get an adjustable clipper my favorite is the Wahl Senior. Also, get yourself a standard pack of cutting guards (#00 - #8). Now for the dark ceaser take the #00 guard place it on the clipper and pull the adjustable lever down that will open the blade to cut less hair. Cut the hair in the direction it grows and you've got your dark ceaser. Spray a little Black Ice on the hairline to get that "Icy Cut".
